Janice Lynn Cooley
Janice Cooley is the Chief Consultant for COOLEYHILL Consulting Inc. which she established to support organizations with implementing strategic workforce planning and business development solutions.
In addition, between the years of 2008-2015, Janice was a Principle and Coach with the Life Skills 2Work LLC established to support individuals and groups develop job search skills, techniques and strategies through workshops, seminars and individual counseling.
During her career and prior to personal consulting, Janice was employed by several Fortune 500 companies. She was with AT&T for 18 years in New York and New Jersey corporate offices in the areas of Business Sales and Human Resource Recruitment and Management. In HR she was responsible for Diversity Recruiting as well as College Relations in the company’s New Jersey corporate office, and was the HR leader in AT&T’s Southern Region headquarters after transferring to Atlanta, Georgia in 1996. In 1998, Janice joined Cox Enterprises in Atlanta and was employed there in the Human Resource organization for 10 years as Director of Strategic Workforce Planning & Talent Acquisition. During her tenure at Cox, Janice established a new professional recruiting organization for employee (internal) hiring and managed a team of 12 for Cox Communications. She also oversaw the development and implementation of new tools, processes and procedures for strategic talent acquisition, candidate assessment, and vendor management. Janice took special pride in successfully managing complex projects, implementation of strategic diversity sourcing programs and processes, as well as establishing strategic workforce planning solutions. During this period Janice also served on a Student Advisory Board at Clark Atlanta University’s Business School. In addition, she developed and delivered a nine week course for members of her church (Faith Christian Center – Smyrna, Ga.) that supported over 300 members develop job search skills.
Janice received a B.S. degree in Psychology from Marshall University, Huntington, West Virginia. In addition, she completed with honors a Human Resource Leadership Program at Stanford University, as well as an Advanced Management Program at Rutgers University. During her tenure with AT&T Janice managed an employee Outplacement Center, and was featured in a Wall Street Journal article that focused on employee outplacement and corporate downsizing management in the 1990’s. She received certification as a Strategic Workforce Planning Consultant through Camden Delta - a partner with the Human Capital Institute in 2010.
Ms. Cooley currently resides in Lewisburg, West Virginia where she is active in her church’s Missionary Society taking responsibility for developing community outreach and support programs. In addition, Janice serves on several community nonprofit boards: the Greenbrier Historical Society, and Community in Schools of Greenbrier County. She is also a member of the Lewisburg Parks and Recreation Commission. In 2014-2016 Janice curated an exhibit called Invisible Roots and Legends; A photographic View of African American History in the Greenbrier Valley, West Virginia which continues to be featured in venues throughout the county to bring awareness to contributions made to the community through efforts of African Americans. In recognition for this work, Ms. Cooley received the Human and Civil Rights Award from West Virginia Governor, Earl Ray Tomblin and the Martin Luther King Jr. State Holiday Commission in 2015. Also in 2015, Janice was recognized in the Greenbrier Valley Quarterly magazine and received that magazines’ Zenith Award in recognition of contributions made to the greater good of the community.
